The intrigue surrounding Hello Kitty’s non existent mouth

A number of people have always wondered why Hello Kitty doesn’t have a mouth.

The creator, Sanrio, has always explained that Hello Kitty does not have (or need a mouth) because She speaks from her heart.

Because they wanted Hello Kitty to be a world ambassador she doesn’t need a specific language and they hope that she will help encourage friendship of people all around the world.

Another plausible explanation of her not having a mouth is that people can project their own feelings onto her, whether they’re feeling sad or happy.

The black eyes and lack of mouth do give Hello Kitty a rather non specific and expressionless look. This might be one of the reasons that her popularity has been dwindling in the past few years.
